BLM Organization and Public Land Management Issues
We surveyed our members during February on BLM organization and public land management issues. Over 300 members responded, and we thank them for participating! Members expressed a consensus that it was extremely important that the PLF focus on helping to get interim and permanent BLM Directors in place, and on moving the BLM leadership back to Washington, DC. While we have already communicated our positions on both matters to the Interior transition team, we will continue to correspond and coordinate with the Administration and Congress and provide whatever advice and assistance that we can to support these efforts. Members also identified as top priorities energy and minerals and wildfire management among public land management issues. We also asked members to review the topics of our current Position Statements and to indicate those which they believed remain relevant today. Member’s feedback, coupled with policy priorities of the Administration, Congress, current and ongoing events are helping us to prioritize our Position Statement review and revision workload for 2021. PLF Vice-President Don Simpson is coordinating our work which will be performed by teams of member volunteers who expressed a willingness to assist and who offer subject matter expertise. A summary of the Member’s Survey Results and our Action Plan are available here.
