Technical/Operational Category
TERRY SNYDER is a Geologist in the Utah State Office of BLM in Salt Lake City, UT. She is being recognized for her outstanding contribution to the success of the Cottonwood Wash Watershed Abandoned Mine Reclamation Project in southeastern Utah that had been impacted by uranium mining many years ago.
Ms. Snyder coordinated the interests of multiple parties, including the U. S. Forest Service, the State of Utah regulatory agencies, and the Bureau of Land Management.
As a result of Ms. Snyder’s efforts, this project is now a model for interagency cooperation to address mining impacted watersheds where federal land ownership is mixed.
