THE PUBLIC LANDS FOUNDATION has named Tim Smith, Bureau of Land Management Manager of the Lake Havasu Office in Lake Havasu City, Arizona as the Outstanding Public Lands Professional Technician for 2005.

Foundation President George Lea announced the selection, which recognizes Tim for not only an outstanding career with BLM, but for his leadership and professionalism in playing a key role in the development and implementation of several national and statewide initiatives while Time was stationed in Sacramento, California, to enhance BLM’s recreation management program.  Tim’s chairmanship of the Recreation and Visitor Services Advisory Team, his leadership on the National Mountain Bicycling Strategic Action Plan, and his developmental work on BLM’s Priorities for Recreation and Visitor Services are among the more significant accomplishments by Tim.

In addition, his relentless implementation of the Recreation Fee Demonstration Program exemplifies by the the Public Lands Foundation is pleased to recognize Tim’s accomplishments.

This achievement will be permanently inscribed on the “Hall of Fame Award” plaque at the Bureau of Land Management headquarters in Washington, D. C.  This is another example of a professional career employee’s willingness to chart new direction in protecting and enhancing natural resources.
