Hank had a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Geology. He worked for BLM in Phoenix (1957-1963) and Washington, DC (1963-1972). In 1972, he moved to the Denver Service Center where he worked, as the coordinator of BLM’s oil shale program, until he retired in 1983.
